My Messy Play was founded by Kate in 2014, specialising in messy and sensory play classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers aged 6 months–5 years. Built on the belief that children learn best when they are free to explore, create and get messy in a safe, supportive environment.
What began as a single class has grown into award-winning Messy Play classes, birthday parties and sensory events across Derbyshire & Staffordshire, trusted by families year after year.
Every session is thoughtfully planned and led with care, using messy and sensory play to support early development, confidence and motor skills. Combining child-led play, early development knowledge and real-world experience so children feel confident to explore, and parents feel reassured from the moment they arrive.
We run weekly Messy Play classes across Derbyshire and Staffordshire, including Derby, Mickleover, Belper and Burton upon Trent, with families travelling from surrounding areas to attend.

From squishing and pouring to scooping, mixing and discovering, our classes help build confidence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning, all while having lots of fun (and we handle the mess!).
Our Messy Play birthday parties are designed for children aged 1–8 years, offering a fun, sensory-rich celebration without the overwhelm of traditional party chaos.
Fully hosted by our experienced team, each party is thoughtfully set up to let children explore, create and celebrate freely while parents can relax knowing everything is taken care of.
